Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has more female employees than any company in India, according to a survey conducted by Burungdy Private (private banking business of Axis Bank) and Hurun India.

“Women make up 16 percent of the boards of the companies from the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500. As India’s economy grows and the India 500 becomes bigger, expect the percentage of women board directors to grow too. The 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 are some of the biggest employers of women in the country, led by Tata Consultancy Services with about 2.1 lakh women employees,” said Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India.

The findings are part of a more extensive survey conducted by Burungdy Private and Hurun India to rank the five hundred most valuable companies in the country. The cut-off date for the second edition of the list was October 30.

These are the top 5 companies with the highest number of women employers in India in 2022 : 

1. Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS)

Tata Consultancy Services is not just the biggest employer in India but is also the top women employer in the country. This most significant private sector employer has 2,10,000 women, a whopping 35% of its over 5.9 lakh employees. TCS is one of the most valuable IT service brands in the world and the second-largest Indian corporation in terms of market capitalization. The workforce of this top private sector employer also includes 2,10,000 women. It represents a staggering 35% of its more than 5.9 lakh workforce. One of the first IT businesses in India, TCS was founded in 1968, and many of its first clients were national banks.

2. Infosys

Information technology company Infosys Limited is based in India. It offers outsourcing, information technology, and business consulting services. Bangalore serves as the company’s headquarters but was established in Pune. By 2020 revenue estimates, Infosys is also the second-largest Indian IT company after Tata Consultancy Services. The company additionally offers software solutions to the banking sector. Finacle, a global banking solution for large and medium banks in India and abroad, was created by them. Additionally, 1.24 lakh women work for Infosys, making up 40% of the company’s workforce. It employs the second-highest number of women employees in India.

3. Wipro

Indian multinational company Wipro Limited offers business processes, consultancy, and information technology services. Beginning in July 2020, Thierry Delaporte manages Wipro as CEO and managing director. Cloud computing, cyber security, and digital transformation are all areas where Wipro excels. It additionally offers services, including robotics, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and other technology consulting services. It is spread in 167 nations. Wipro is the third IT company to appear on the top ten list. Over 36% of the company’s employee workforce, or 88,946 women, are present in the company.

4. HCL Technologies

An international provider of consulting and IT services, HCL Technologies is based in India. Its head office is also located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is an HCL Enterprise division. This started as a subsidiary of HCL’s research & development department before becoming an independent company in 1991. At this point, HCL started offering software services. The business now operates offices in over 52 different nations. The next largest employer of women in the nation is HCL Technologies. Women professionals make up about 28% of its workforce, or 62,780 people overall.

5. Reliance Industries

Reliance Industries is also popular as RIL, an international conglomerate company in India. Its head office is in Mumbai. In addition, it operates a variety of enterprises in the energy, petrochemical, natural gas, and retail sectors. Additionally, it offers services in textiles, mass media, and telecommunications. One of India’s most lucrative businesses, Reliance is also the country’s biggest company in terms of market capitalization. It is among India’s top employers regarding the number of employees. With 62,560 female employees, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries ranks fifth on the list. This amounts to roughly 18% of their entire staff.
